Red, White & Blue Deviled Eggs

Thinking outside the box for the month of July! How about Red, White & Blue Deviled Eggs? We all know that whenever someone brings deviled eggs too a gathering they are a hit and disappear. Here's my spin of a Delicious and Simple patriotic egg! I made a small batch, but you can certainly make as many needed for any party, Enjoy!

Ingredients: Make 12 deviled Eggs or can double recipe

  • 6 Large Eggs, room temperature

  • 2-3 TBSP Mayonnaise or more if needed for desired consistency for egg filling

  • 1/2-1 tsp Colman's Mustard Powder, or more to taste

  • Sea salt & Black Pepper, to taste

  • Optional: Add a piece of bacon or sprinkle on top with cayenne for heat & color or sweet Paprika

  • Red Food Color, FDA approved safe no.40

  • Blue Food Color

    * You can find natural food dyes online if prefered


How to make the perfect hard boiled Egg:

Put large eggs in a pot of cold water, add 1 TBSP of iodized salt, keep uncovered, stirring occasionally this keeps egg yolk in the center of egg white and bring up to a boil, take off heat immediately & cover with lid & set off to side for 15 minutes, after 15 minutes remove lid immediately & strain out hot water, adding cold water and then ice cubes, set aside minimum of 15 minutes before peeling eggs. You will have the perfect hard boiled egg. If using smaller eggs adjust time a few minutes less.


Instructions:

  • When hard boiled eggs are completely cooled, cut in half & scoop out the yolk into a mixing bowl

  • Break up egg with a fork, adding mayonnaise and seasonings, mix with hand mixer until smooth

  • Fill piping tube or bag, set aside or place in fridge, if making at a later time. Get eggs ready to be filled , But first we need to color them!


  • Coloring eggs Red & Blue: You will need:

  • 2 small disposable bowls

  • Food safe gloves

  • paper towels

  • slotted spoon

  • Red & Blue Food Coloring, FDA approved

  • 1 TBL White Vinegar, per bowl

  • 1 cup hot water, per bowl

  • Mix in vinegar, separately adding blue, red food coloring with hot water in each bowl, DO NOT MIX food color!

  • Then adding egg halves in each bowl soaking for 2 minutes or more for intense color. ( keep equal white eggs out) Remember Red, White & Blue!

  • Remove eggs and place on a paper plate lined with paper towel, pat dry and let stand a few minutes before filling

  • Fill each egg, Optional to sprinkle a little red on top! Bacon piece, Cayenne or Sweet Paprika!

  • Plate & Enjoy!
